We currently have openings for the following positions:

Administrative Director

Schedule: Full-time, 30+ hours per week.

The Administrative Director supports the mission and principles of the Montessori Schoolhouse of Cheshire County by following the Montessori philosophy and ability to act as knowledgeable contact person for current and prospective families. Will handle all business related responsibilities to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and be a key contact person with the school and greater community. Works cooperatively with Program Director to ensure that school is following NH DHHS licensing rules and regulations as outlined in the current Child Care Program Licensing Rules and filing all Licensing/DHHS paperwork as required. Additionally cooperatively works with and reports to the board of directors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee business side of school functions and administrative needs.

  • Tours, admissions, and student enrollment.

  • Communications and advertising.

  • Prepare, update, and distribute school packets, forms and calendars.

  • Financial/bookkeeping functions including, but not limited to, payroll, AP, AR, preparing and filing quarterly tax reports, W2’s, and 1099’s

  • Human Resource functions including, but not limited to, employee onboarding, health & safety training, and benefits administration

  • Employee/student paperwork as required by NH Childcare Licensing Bureau

  • Attendance at evening board meetings and committee meetings, (In addition to 30 weekly office hours)

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in business administration, management, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in budgeting/bookkeeping and payroll with thorough knowledge of Quickbooks required.

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Workspace (Google Docs/Sheets).

  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities at once.

  • Professional attitude 

  • Center Director qualification a plus (as defined by NH Childcare Licensing Bureau)

Montessori Teacher - Early Childhood 3-6

Seeking a Lead Teacher with Montessori Early Childhood (3-6) Certification, or currently enrolled in certification program.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, school year, 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Flexibility on start date current school year, or August start date for 2024-25 school year.

Responsibilities:

With the help of an experienced assistant, the lead Montessori teacher is responsible for:

  • Preparing and maintaining an inviting and organized classroom for up to 17 students.

  • Presenting group and individual lessons; organizing and maintaining appropriate work on the shelves for children.

  • Observing and recording student growth.

  • Establishing clear and professional communications with parents.

  • Conducting PT conferences twice a year.

  • Participating in occasional evening events.

  • Meeting with potential new students and their parents prior to admission.

  • Working cooperatively with other teachers and administration in the school.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:   

  • Enthusiasm for the Montessori philosophy.

  • Warmth, patience, and a soft nurturing tone with children.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and be supportive.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-6 / Early Childhood Montessori Teacher Certification, or in progress

  • 2 years minimum experience as a Lead Classroom Teacher with children ages 3-6.

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

  • Education degree preferred

  • Center Director qualified, as defined by NH Childcare Licensing Bureau, a plus

Salary Range: $28,500 - $37,000 for the school year based on work schedule, qualifications, and experience.


Classroom Assistants

Toddler Classroom Position: 7:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Preschool Classroom Positions: 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., 12:00 to 4:30 p.m., or 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

These are school year positions, Monday through Friday, with similar hours for vacation camps and summer camp.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Lead Teacher with preparation of age-appropriate lessons and activities

  • Child supervision and bathroom/diapering assistance.

  • Snack, lunch, and rest-time prep.

  • Classroom tidiness, light cleaning and closing duties.

  • Outdoor activities in various weather.

  • Regular walks pushing wagons/strollers (toddler classroom).

Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and meet ONE of the following):

  • 9 college credits in related course work including at least one 3 credit course in child or human growth and development (official transcript required)

  • Current certification as a Para II Educator by the Dept. of Educ. (certificate required)

  • A minimum of 1,000 hours of supervised childcare experience in a licensed child care program AND knowledge of of child growth and development obtained through ONE of the following documented on resume with references to verify:

    • High school level 2-year career and technical education course in teacher education;

    • 3 credit college course in child or human growth and development

    • 30 hours of training in child growth & development granted by an accredited college/university, International Assoc. for Continuing Ed., or obtained through documented life experience with the same age children such as a family childcare provider, foster parent, school teacher, camp counselor, or group leader in sports or activity such as scouts or similar with this age group.
